IABR Down To Earth

The exhibition series Down To Earth was the 2020 edition of the International Architecture Biennale Rotterdam. Due to the restrictions resulting from the Covid-19 measures the biennale was split up to three major exhibitions – Droogte in de Delta, Energie, van wie? and Reclaiming the Commons – and a number of smaller presentations, spanning over a time period of a year. The biennale investigated the relationship of architecture to topics of sustainability, in particular to water-related issues and the energy transition.
As part of the design team of Atelier Roosje Klap (ARK) I worked on the concept development and the graphic design production of the visual identity, campaign and the exhibitions. The core of the identity and the exhibition design was a flexible grid- and color system. This gave the opportunity to build many custom combinations for the several exhibitions, and to apply the design system to a multitude of formats while retaining structure and consistency.
